Concerning Spiritual Warfare, one of the main verses I use is;
2 Cor. 10:5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,
As my wife Jackie, prepared to talk with our Mom’s group on this same topic, she received some very good revelation concerning “bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ”, and I want to share it with you.
I think it would be fair to say that most of us think of the bad thoughts we have that we are to bring into captivity and realign those with thoughts that line up with scripture, and that most certainly is true. However, this scripture says to bring EVERY THOUGHT into captivity. What about even our good thoughts? Maybe at times, we need to reevaluate even our good thoughts because sometimes good becomes the stumbling block to better and best.
Many stuffy “religious” things, many mundane “liturgical” things started out good but then got stuck there rather than moving on into further revelation and relationship. Good wound-up blocking better and best and created bondage in the name of religion.
If we stop at the good revelation that Jesus is Savior, then we miss out on the plethora of other things that He is; Redeemer, sacrificial Lamb of God, Healer, King of kings and Lord of lords, etc.
So, this scripture is referring to “every thought”, whether bad OR good, to be brought into captivity to the obedience of Christ so that we may be all that He has created for us to be.
Praise the Lord
